Marrakech

Marrakech works beautifully when busy streets and quiet courtyards share the day. Choose a base that suits your walking pace, then leave room between the souks, gardens and meals.

Your starting point

Three or four nights with room to pause

For a first visit, consider three or four nights. Give the medina one unhurried day and reserve another for gardens or architecture. If you want an excursion beyond the city, add the time it needs rather than compressing Marrakech into a few rushed hours. Keep at least one afternoon open for a café, a courtyard or a return to somewhere you liked.

Suggested lengths are starting points for a conversation. Your final route depends on your dates, interests and availability.

Medina and Jemaa el-Fna: explore in smaller pieces

The medina, its souks and Jemaa el-Fna are central to the city’s character. Pick a few interests for a guided first walk instead of trying to navigate every lane. We set the meeting place and finish point in advance, which helps when members of the group want different amounts of walking. [1]

Gardens: change the pace

The Menara gardens and Majorelle offer a contrast to the medina. Choose the garden that interests you, and we handle its booking arrangements when we set the day. A garden visit works best as something to enjoy, rather than another stop to photograph from the entrance. [2]

Riad or hotel: look beyond the room photo

A riad in the medina and a hotel around Gueliz or Hivernage offer different surroundings. We check vehicle access, luggage assistance, stairs and evening dining for you, so the base suits your group day to day. [2]

When to go

Let the forecast shape your walking hours

Morocco’s inland, coastal and mountain climates differ. We plan around Marrakech’s own forecast rather than beach-resort expectations. On hot days, we put longer walks earlier and keep a shaded break in the day. In the cooler months, pack a layer for the evenings. [3]

Getting around

Agree on the final part of the arrival

We confirm where your vehicle can stop and how you and your luggage reach the accommodation, including the last walking stretch that a medina map pin does not show. For an onward journey, we line up the departure point with hotel checkout and leave a clear transfer window.

A little clarity before you go

Questions before you plan

Is the medina the right place to stay with limited mobility?

It depends on the property and the route to it, so we check the stairs, the walk from the drop-off and bathroom access before we suggest a riad.

Can we add a desert stay as a quick extra?

Tell us the kind of desert stay you have in mind and we’ll show you the driving route it involves, as desert areas differ. If the journey would take away the city days you wanted, we can extend the holiday or keep the route focused.
