Cyprus
Pair a coastal base with a quieter inland day. Cyprus can be a holiday of mosaics, village streets and time by the sea when the driving stays manageable.
- Archaeology
- Village stays
- Coastal time
Your starting point
Six or seven nights with a clear coastal base
Consider a coastal stay with separate days for archaeology and the Troodos area. Choose Pafos if its ancient sites are central to the holiday, or compare another base against your actual priorities. A mountain overnight can change the pace, but is most useful when you want more than a brief village stop. Cyprus drives on the left, so a self-drive Troodos day suits travellers already comfortable with that; otherwise ask for arranged transport. [3]
Suggested lengths are starting points for a conversation. Your final route depends on your dates, interests and availability.
Pafos: spend time with the mosaics
The Kato Pafos archaeological park includes Roman villas whose mosaic floors depict mythological scenes. Pick a comfortable visit length and consider a guide if you want to understand the stories. Keep the exposed walking separate from the hottest part of the day when conditions call for it. [1]
Troodos: choose a village route deliberately
The official Troodos map shows villages, churches and trails spread across the mountain area. We pick a small number of connected stops with comfortable drives between them, using the map to choose priorities rather than to cover everything in one outing. [2]
Coastal time: choose the right shore
We look at the shore near each hotel, including walking access, surfaces and seasonal services, so the beach suits your group as well as the view. Leave an unbooked day if time beside the water is part of the reason for travelling.
When to go
Balance the coast with the inland conditions
We plan the mountain day around the forecast, and walking and sea days can swap places as the weather suggests. We also confirm opening arrangements for small churches and local museums before building a day around them. [2]
Getting around
A route built around Pafos and the Troodos
This suggested route focuses on Pafos and the Troodos area. We arrange your arrival and driving plan, and if you would like to cross to another part of the island, we confirm the current arrangements, including what your car hire covers.

Questions before you plan
Should we see every mosaic house in one visit?
Choose according to your interest and comfort. A thoughtful look at selected scenes can be more rewarding than rushing through the whole park. [1]
Can Troodos be added between airport arrival and hotel check-in?
That usually leaves little flexibility for the mountain drive and village stops. A dedicated day or overnight stay makes the inland part easier to enjoy.
