Dubai

Choose the Dubai you want to spend time in: creekside heritage, contemporary architecture or days by the water. Group nearby experiences together and let the city feel less hurried.

Your starting point

Four or five nights, organised by area

For a first visit, consider four or five nights with a heritage day, a contemporary-city day and time for the coast or a chosen excursion. Pick the experiences that matter, then compare hotel areas: Deira or Bur Dubai beside the Creek for heritage and souks, Downtown Dubai for a landmark day, or the Marina for waterfront time. Visit Dubai describes the historic Creek districts as easy to explore on foot, while the Metro runs along Sheikh Zayed Road to the newer districts. [2] A short stay works better with one main focus each day than with repeated journeys between opposite ends of the city. Old Dubai, Downtown and the Marina are far apart, so with young children or anyone who tires easily, keep each day in one area and use the Metro or a taxi between districts rather than walking.

Suggested lengths are starting points for a conversation. Your final route depends on your dates, interests and availability.

Old Dubai: begin beside the Creek

Al Fahidi’s wind-tower buildings and lanes offer a different introduction from the skyline. Choose a cultural visit, explore the neighbourhood and leave time for the Creek and souks. Tell us which museums or galleries you would like to enter, and we will confirm they are open on your dates. [1]

A landmark day: select the actual experience

Tell us whether a particular building matters for its view, an exhibition or simply its architecture. We book the timed visit you actually want and keep the rest of the day in the same area, so the skyline becomes a few chosen experiences rather than a long list with travel in between.

Choose one waterfront or desert day

A Marina-based afternoon suits a walk and a meal by the water. A visit to the Desert Conservation Reserve runs with its own operator and transfer, which we arrange as a separate outing. Use the focused guides linked below to decide which adds more to your stay, rather than treating both as short gaps between city visits. [2] [3]

When to go

Match the walking plan to the forecast

Visit Dubai treats November to February as the high season, and March as still cool and comfortable for outdoor sightseeing. In summer a typical July day reaches 40°C, so keep walking to the early morning or evening and plan indoor visits for the middle of the day. [4] [5] We confirm event dates and venue hours before fixing the order of days, and keep the most flexible activities unbooked so a hot afternoon can switch to something indoors.

Getting around

Choose transport for the whole door-to-door journey

Dubai’s visitor guidance describes Metro, tram, buses, taxis and marine services. We plan each journey from your hotel entrance to the attraction, including the final walk from the station. A Creek crossing, a Marina outing and a sightseeing cruise serve different purposes, so we match the boat trip and its boarding point to what you want. [2]

A little clarity before you go

Questions before you plan

Should every Dubai visit use a Marina hotel?

Choose it if waterfront time leads the holiday. If your priorities are elsewhere, we compare the daily journeys from other areas with you. The Marina has its own guide below to help with that choice.

Is every desert outing inside the conservation reserve?

Not every one. The reserve promotes its own approved excursions, so if the reserve is what you want, we book one of those and confirm the location with the operator. [3]
