Your starting point

Six or seven nights between Skopje and Ohrid

Consider a short Skopje stay followed by several nights around Ohrid. Most of this route is town walking and lake time, so it can be paced gently; the Galičica mountain day is the more active part, so we match its route to your fitness. Keep the intercity transfer separate from the main sightseeing days. If walking in a national park is important, add a dedicated day or stay rather than treating a mountain route as a quick stop between the two bases.

Suggested lengths are starting points for a conversation. Your final route depends on your dates, interests and availability.

Skopje: begin in the old bazaar

The national tourism agency describes the bazaar as a historic trading and cultural area extending from the Stone Bridge. A guided walk can explain the buildings and everyday life together. Pick a few interiors that interest you and we arrange access, so there is no need to attempt every landmark in one circuit. [1]

Ohrid: understand the town and the lake together

UNESCO recognises the Ohrid region for both natural and cultural heritage. Leave time for the historic town as well as the lakeside setting. A local guide can help you choose religious or historical visits without turning the whole day into a sequence of entrances. [2]

A mountain day: choose a defined route

Official park material describes Galičica’s views towards Ohrid and Prespa. We talk through the exact walk, elevation and access with you before adding it. A scenic overlook reached by road and a mountain hike are different outings, so we plan the one that suits you. [3]

When to go

Let lake conditions and trail access guide the day

We keep boat outings flexible for the conditions and confirm the operator’s arrangements for your dates. Higher walks follow the mountain forecast, so we plan them separately from the lake days.

Getting around

Count the Skopje–Ohrid move as travel time

We arrange the road or bus connection, pickup location and final journey to your accommodation. If you are continuing into Albania or another neighbour, we plan the crossing as its own stage and go through the entry requirements with you.

A little clarity before you go

Questions before you plan

Is Ohrid only a place for a summer beach break?

Its cultural heritage provides another reason to visit. Choose dates around the experiences and openings you want rather than assuming the whole stay must revolve around swimming. [2]

Can we include a mountain hike during the transfer day?

It usually works better as a dedicated day, which is easier to adapt to conditions and daylight.
